Dear Members,
If you have raster brushwork or filters (ie all you vexel-ers out there) then we CANNOT post your work here. So if you are not using a vector program, then before you submit, please make sure there is no brushwork, blurs or filters. If you are using a Vector Program then by all means, use a blur or filter. It's a gray zone, but I believe it to be important to enforce and uphold dA vector policy. [link]
Thanks,
Vashtastic

While we're at it... I reckon you should have the art separated into 2 categories (since you're getting so much in):

Original Anime
and
Fan Art

Because there's just so much fan art / traces here that in my IMHPO anyone who can click a mouse can do. I teach Adobe Illustrator to 13-year olds and they've proven this point to me.

What really makes a vector special is something that is original. It would then be easier for the more advanced Illustrators to browse the work of the other more advanced Illustrators, rather than having to wade through tons of fan art (which I have to say is starting to make this club look more of a Naruto/Bleach fan art vector club).

I sent a note. How do I know whether I'm in?
~theanimaster:icontheanimaster: Mar 17, 2008, 7:26:09 PM
Hey! How do I join the club :) ??
*AnimeVectorArtists:iconAnimeVectorArtists: Mar 2, 2008, 9:08:24 PM
You can help by sending us a link of pieces that you feel have been traced. Please note this information. Currently we are in the middle of purging traces from our gallery.

I'm not at all trying to pick a fight I'm asking a question. I mean you even have a tut posted that promotes straight up tracing from a screen cap.
and its not like its one or two that looks ripped or thats even just a straight on screen cap, but its a great many, a majority.
*AnimeVectorArtists:iconAnimeVectorArtists: Mar 2, 2008, 1:39:19 PM
I fail to see the problem. Maybe some members have ripped screencaps, it's hard to regulate with almost 400 members. If you see a specific problem, maybe you should contact that artist instead of trying to pick a fight on the club's fron page.
Vector is not a style as you seem to think. It's a method and a tool... it's a medium, which is why we have dA's definition of what a vector is.

The straightness of lines is dependent on the artist, but it is somewhat easier to get a clean line by using vectors. Photoshop is a raster program, you can mimic the "look" of a vector with it, this is called a vexel. There are quite a few tutorials out there that will show you how to do this. I suggest looking at the tutorials in our gallery and looking at the tutorials on our tutorial page which you can find in our journals.
